Biography
Luka Gorgievski is a Macedonian composer, producer, lyricist and performer whose work bridges contemporary innovation with deep cultural roots. From his adolescent years arranging, producing and co-composing for ensembles such as Ego Disco, Who Killed Kenny and L’arte di Sincretismo, Luka’s creative vision has been shaped by childlike curiosity combined with rigorous craftsmanship across multiple instruments, techniques and sound mediums.
His solo piano EP Skopje by Night revealed a more introspective side to his artistry, while Aether, the debut album with his principal project Funk Shui, established him as a benchmark voice in Macedonia’s modern alternative scene. After a brief period in Nürnberg, Germany, where he pursued further education and formed a band, Luka returned to Skopje to devote himself fully to music and education.
As co-producer, composer, songwriter and performer for the nationally acclaimed Pluto’s Doubts on their album Sisyphus, and as collaborator with the internationally recognised ethno-jazz ensemble Luboyna on reimagined traditional folklore works, Luka has demonstrated his versatility and vision. He has led the production and writing of two albums and an EP with Funk Shui. His deep exploration of Macedonian folklore under the mentorship of MA Vera Milosevska-Josifovska and Oliver Josifovski, along with exposure to Byzantine singing through Dr Risto Solunchev, professor at the University of Skopje, profoundly shaped his melodic sensibility and harmonic language. This influence can be heard in the evolving live sound that followed Funk Shui’s third record Never Again, an album that received regional and international attention and sparked the band’s ongoing Never Ending Tour across Europe, launched on 21 March 2023.
Luka has performed over seventy shows across Europe, including EXIT Festival, SHIP Festival, ESNS Eurosonic Festival (twice), Athens Music Week, and numerous club and open-air venues throughout the Balkans and beyond.
He contributed as co-writer, co-producer and performer to the revival of the cult Macedonian surrealist hip-hop pioneers Chista Okolina, shaping their long-awaited second album Avant-garde fatiguée, an experimental triptych of surrealist trip-hop.
As a lyricist, Luka is known for his associative, abstract and archetypal writing style. His lyrics provoke emotional and cognitive reactions while giving voice to the voicelessness of contemporary emotional, personal and intercultural struggles. Often combining existential irony with social commentary, his writing blends vivid imagery with classical and subtly satirical Balkan undertones that both challenge and disarm the listener.
In 2025, Luka co-produced the debut album by the rising Macedonian band Zanadu, contributing to the songwriting and lyrical direction. He is currently involved in five international projects, based in the United States, Canada, Croatia, Macedonia and Serbia, spanning production, underscore composition, songwriting and studio session work. In these projects, he records multiple instruments, arranges music and performs complex vocal and choral parts.
In parallel, Luka has collaborated with Berklee alumnus Ben Milchev at his Skopje studio, hosting international workshops on cross-genre production, improvisation and creative collaboration. He has also worked with Croatian artist Romana Pavliša and has performed with Funk Shui at venues across Europe including Lark Club in Berlin, Rhiz Club in Vienna, Orto Club in Ljubljana, The Old Blue Last in London, Močvara in Zagreb, Club Palach in Rijeka and Dom Omladine in Belgrade...

Luka Gjorgievski has extensive experience in marketing communications, contributing to billboards, social media campaigns, video content and television commercials for a diverse portfolio of prominent brands, including Coca-Cola Europe, Skopska Pivara, Red Bull, Europe House MK, T-Mobile and fashion labels such as OX Streets and Brutalisk. He has worked with leading advertising and communications networks including Publicis Saatchi & Saatchi and McCann, and has collaborated with creative professionals such as Berklee alumnus Ben Milchev, internet personality Martina Barakoska, the SKALA Academy of Design and Technology team and Studio Podrumot led by Angel Kjosev. His collaborations extend to regionally acclaimed productions including Avalon Production, Balkanrock, Password Production, Bannana & Salt, Muzzik TV and Crna Soba.

Based in his own well-established and dynamic studio, after gaining experience at various other studios across the Balkans, he has successfully taken on several major projects in recent years. These include scoring and full music direction and production for twenty episodes across two seasons of the national television show Teen Camp, complete production and sound engineering for the albums Nashe Posle Sé by Zanadu and Album X by Speysd, as well as numerous studio sessions, recordings and production services for various brands and individual clients.
His work also spans international projects, including collaborations with the student association at the University of Zagreb in Croatia, creating underscore libraries for clients in the United States, co-producing for musicians in Los Angeles, and producing for Muzzik TV in Serbia, amongst many others.
